Inner Chugach Base Camping Expedition: 5 to 10 Days

There are few places on earth that can compare to the Inner Chugach Range in beauty, scale, and potential energy. AKA will fly you into the heart of the Chugach Range for a Kiting and Skiing extravaganza complete with Base Camp equipment, guides, and an agenda for the best vacation of your life! This trip offers a little bit of everything for everyone. Base camping allows for some creature comforts in this inhospitable place, but be warned, this expedition is not for the faint of heart. Storms capable of 100+ mph winds and of depositing foot after foot of snow are common even in late May so plan your tickets accordingly. After all, this is Alaska.

    5 Days: $3500

    10 Days: $5500

Inner Chugach Kiting Traverse: 7 to 14 Days

This traverse is for people with ample backcountry experience and who are slightly masochistic. We will cover some of the most beautiful terrain the Chugach Range has to offer as we take advantage of glacial winds to move camp from place to place. We will fly into the upper Valdez Glacier and cross the vast Tazlina Ice Field on our way to the Nelchina Glacier. On down days we will ski and kite among monsters. Some human powered travel will be necessary to complete the traverse, so being in top shape is a must for this extremely taxing expedition.

    7 Days: $4000

    14 Days: $6000

Upper Knik Exploratory Expedition: 7 Days

Through recent exploration, the AKA boys have picked a few places they would like to stage Exploratory Expeditions out of. The upper Knik Glacier is a vast expanse of high altitude snowfields and nunatack’s. Base camp would be located at the base of Mt. Marcus Baker, the crown jewel of the Chugach Range. Our pilots have informed us that the place has amazing opportunity for snowkiting, we’re just looking for some people who want to explore Alaska’s snowkiting potential with us.

    7 Days: $4000

Expedition Disclaimer:

“ We need wilderness because we are wild animals. Every man needs a place where he can go to go crazy in peace.  Every Boy Scout troop deserves a forest to get lost, miserable, and starving in... If only for the sport of it.  For the  terror, freedom, and delerium...”

  1. -Edward Abbey, from The Journey Home

With that in mind, I would like to take this opportunity to say that our expeditions are always at the whim of Mother Nature and are therefore based on goals, not certainties. We appreciate your understanding and flexibility. Our guides will help you make the most out of what the weather gives us, but we prepare for the worst and hope for the best. Thank you.
